Lunar Ice for Fueling Rocket in Near Future: Jeff Bezos

This article contains:
  • Information about Lunar ice and its proof
  • The vision of Jeff Bezos to convert the Lunar ice into the fuel of Rocket
  • Future of the Moon to be the base of the Space Exploration
  • Organizations and Projects Jeff Bezos directly involved in

Jeff Bezos envisions lunar ice as the resource of Rocket fueling. The richest man in this world has shared his profound knowledge and idea of how the ice stored in the moon can be transferred into fuel that can power up the rockets.

CEO of Amazon and the founder of the great Space company Blue Origin amazed us with his brilliant plan of setting up a base at the moon to explore the space further in the coming days. During the JFK Space Summit held in Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday, Bezos said, “…one of the things I learned during Apollo Programme that there are deposits of ice at the bottom of the craters of the moon… We can harvest that ice and use it to make hydrogen and oxygen, which is rocket propellants.”

Water is present on the moon's surface in the form of ice is well known to everybody by this time. The information is seconded in August 2018 by NASA’s Moon Mineralogy Mapper instrument aboard India’s Chandrayaan-1 Space Craft currently orbiting the Moon.

In May, Bezos unveiled a new Moon-lander called 'Blue Moon' along with a smaller rover and spoke about his plans to get to the Moon by 2024. "We must return to the Moon - this time to stay," the Blue Origin CEO had said.

With its Latin tagline of “step by step, ferociously,” Blue Origin has been working on multiple space systems at the same time. In addition to Blue Moon, the company is building a rocket for space tourism called New Shepard, as well as a giant rocket called New Glenn will launch satellites and another spacecraft.

It is reported that Bezos invests more than $1 billion in the company each year, through sales of his Amazon shares.

Bezos also shared his vision of humans living on miles-long, orbiting space stations called 'O'Neill colonies', named after physicist Gerard O'Neill, who first floated the concept.

However, SpaceX founder Elon Musk mocked Bezos's moon plans, saying, "They make no sense".

Facebook to Launch New Digital Pseudo Currency, Libra | 2021

Facebook: Libra
Facebook is finally going to launch its cryptocurrency named Libra worldwide. Recently Facebook shared news about its pseudo digital currency and its association called Libra Association that will look overall things about Libra. Though Facebook unveiled a white paper detailing how it will work, the App and the service are yet to be launched till the first quarter of 2020. Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp users will be able to use this feature to transfer their money to anyone they want. Facebook is targeting its 1.7 billion users to initially provide the service with. Those who do not have a bank account but having a smartphone will be the most benefitted.

Though the word ‘cryptocurrency’ instantly strikes your mind with Bitcoin, it is slightly different than that. To end-users(investors), Bitcoin was something to be bought or sold depending upon the market value. Moreover, Bitcoins’ value gets fluctuated randomly as it is governed by only a few merchants.

Unlike Bitcoin, Libra will not be centered or controlled by few merchants but by several authorized partners. The acceptance of Libra is expected to be very high considering Facebook is targeting ‘common people’ also who don’t have bank accounts.

So, Libra will let anyone send their money as quickly as texting to anyone who is having a smartphone and the Apps installed in it. Reportedly, the service will be available for free to minimal cost.

Switzerland-based company Calibra, a non-profit organization, will control this Libra service. Facebook along with 28 other companies like Vodafone, Uber, Visa, Spotify, Mastercard, and non-profit Women’s World Banking has been backing this project to be launched.

There are so many things to be clarified on this service from the Facebook side also.
Considering there are several easy money transfer services (Tez/Google Pay/Paytm) already available to us that transfers ‘real money to the users, will Facebook be able to get hold of the market implementing its cryptocurrency?

Will People have the trust in Facebook with their hard-earned money after it is accused with ‘Data-scandal’ couple of times?

Well, time will answer those questions. But what do you think now?

WhatsApp Warning! Do Not Share Pictures with Wrong Recipient

Nowadays sharing picture through WhatsApp is the easiest. You click it, you WhatsApp it. In a second your selfie can reach your friends and family. But sometimes it left you with the awkward moment when you mistakenly send your photos to the wrong person. If it is a normal photo, then we do not bother much. But when it comes to ‘too personal’ photos or not to be shared with ‘everyone’ the situation worsens. How many times it did happen to you? For me, it is quite common.

Photo for illustration

Though WhatsApp is nicely dealing with it by ‘Delete For Everyone’ option. Just after the picture (or message for that matter) being sent if you realize the mistake you can delete that.

But we all agree, ‘Prevention is better than cure. What if we get a prevention or assurance notification before sending any picture to the correct person, it will be easier for us to ‘cross-check’ the recipient.

It is in the news that, WhatsApp will ensure the pictures are getting sent to the correct recipient by adding the contact name below the image caption. In its Beta update, Facebook-owned Company WhatsApp will add a feature that will show the recipient’s name and the small picture on the top left corner of the picture while being sent. This will allow users to double-check the correct contact(s) they are sharing the picture with.

This option will surely reduce the chances of sending photos to the wrong number and enhance the overall photo sharing experience of the WhatsApp users.

It is reported that Beta users are using Beta Version:2.19.173 or later to test this feature. Once the feature is stable, the same will be rolled out in PlayStore soon for end users.

Power Can be Harnessed from Fish Scale

The way technology is getting developed, you never know where it will take you to. Every day we wake up and something new has arrived on our plate to get astonished. Today we are going to explore an interesting but lesser-known scientific discovery that will surely leave you in awe. Some Physicists have discovered a way to make a tiny electric generator from the skin of fish. Sounding too fishy? Not at all. Allow me to explain from the beginning.
Fish Cartoon
Many of us have heard of piezoelectric materials from our school science books. What are piezoelectric materials? In short, piezoelectric materials are some kind of power harvesters. And how do they harvest power? Let us see that in detail. In this universe, there is certain kind of materials which can produce electricity in response to vibration or mechanical stresses made upon it. These materials are called piezoelectric materials. There are a lot of piezoelectric materials available on this earth. Some of those are well known are, e.g. Quartz, Rochelle Salt, Topaz, etc. Not only those, there are some day-to-day used materials such as silk, wood, enamel, bone, hair, rubber dentin, etc. also fall under the piezoelectric material category. In this article we will talk about another piezoelectric material named Collagen that is found in living animal body; protein to be specific.

Now let us get back to fish. The collagen found in fish scales, bones, and tails have piezoelectric properties. Researchers of Jadavpur University(India) found that if any stress is applied by movements or pressure on the collagen fiber then electrical energy can be generated. The physicists (or ‘Fish’ycists) call it a “bio-piezoelectric nanogenerator” that can power up self-powered electronics devices.

bio-piezoelectric nanogenerator
Power can be harnessed from the device they made from a wide variety of body or machinery movements, sound vibrations, and wind flow. It is initially demonstrated that with the help of finger touch to the derived fiber from the fish collagen can lighten up to 50 LEDs (in electrical term ~14 volts).

Collagen being a bio-degradable material made this scientific breakthrough even more advantageous. With adequate research and advancements, this technology can be used to power up self-sustained power electronic devices. Such one of the life-saving devices is a pacemaker, the artificial heart. Scientists expect, in the future, this nanogenerator can be placed in the heart along with the pacemaker. The movement of the heart will be transferred to energy with this nanogenerator and the pacemaker will be powered by it. And at times when a pacemaker will not be necessary, it will be degraded naturally. As heart muscle also contains collagen nanogenerator is expected to be very compatible with it.
