The Tweet by @Android really changed everything about AR. The Augmented Reality has now reached its next level. Let us come to the point straight away without beating around the bush. You can now bring 3D animals using the Google Camera of your Android/iPhone to the real world.
Just follow these simple steps:
- Search any well-known animal names (say, Tiger)
Search Result For Tiger |
- In the search result, along with the regular search result you will get to see a big animated for of the animal you searched for under the caption “Meet a life-sized ‘Tiger’ up close.”
Click on 'View in your space.' |
- Click on the 'View in 3D' option.
- You will get to see the animated animal (making sound) with the option 'View in your space.'
- Hit 'View in your space' and give access to media and sound to your phone.
- The camera will be opened. Move your phone in a circular motion centering a point on the floor.
- See the magic. The animal(Tiger) will appear Live.
- Now, you can give your creative pose with your favorite animal.
For the time being, the number of animals coming alive is limited. It seems Google will keep adding to the list, and someday each animal will be covered.
Supported 3D animals' list
We are listing down the name of the animals currently supported in Android AR: Cheetah, lion, tiger, ball python, alpine goat, emperor penguin, panda, wolf, angler fish, octopus, kitten, dog, Rottweiler, great white shark, hedgehog, sea turtle, eagle, Shetland pony.
Please join us in exploring and comment if you find anything new.

Note: For this feature to work correctly, your phone needs to have GPS, compass, accelerometer, and gyro sensor. It will not work in the absence of any one of these.
